Hope Solo appeared in court on Monday and the Associated Press via ESPNW has an update on what transpired: 

U.S. women's soccer team goalkeeper Hope Solo has entered a not guilty plea following her domestic violence arrest at her sister's home in suburban Seattle.

Solo appeared in court Monday and was released without bail. She was ordered not to have contact with the alleged victims and to not drink alcohol.

Authorities say Solo was intoxicated early Saturday when she was accused of assaulting her sister and 17-year-old nephew. But her lawyer, Todd Maybrown, said she was a victim in the altercation.

World-class goalkeeper Hope Solo is once again making waves off the pitch as the United States women's national team star was arrested Friday night in Kirkland, Washington.

According to Jennifer Sullivan of The Seattle Times, Solo was arrested at the home she shares with husband and former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens on two counts of domestic violence after allegedly striking both her sister and nephew.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper is being held without bail after a family gathering escalated into an altercation, per Kirkland police Lt. Mike Murray.

"There was a big party going on at her house. It was an out-of-control situation," Murray said.

Murray also noted that, "There were visible injuries on them," in reference to Solo's sister and nephew.

This isn't the first time that Solo has been involved in a domestic incident. Per The Seattle Times, Stevens was arrested for allegedly assaulting Solo in 2012 only for the couple to get married hours after Stevens' court appearance.

Under normal circumstances, Solo would have been with her Team USA mates as they faced France in an international friendly Thursday in Hartford, Connecticut.

As great of a player as Solo is, her on-field performances are often overshadowed by controversy off of it. She ranks as one of the best goalkeepers the sport has ever seen, but has been a lightning rod for controversy throughout.
